Recruitment of new faculty members at the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology (Drug discovery)
The Department of Pharmacology and Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine at Université de Montréal is receiving applications for a full-time academic position at the level of assistant or associate research professor in the fields of Drug design and discovery with an emphasis on assay development, novel screening methods, identification of bioactive compounds (from chemical libraries and/or from natural products), chemical biology or systems pharmacology. Candidates with expertise that complement the research themes already in place in the Department will be preferred.
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in a biomedical field or the equivalent and should have at least 2 years of postdoctoral research training. The candidate must have demonstrated productivity (as evidenced by high-impact peer-reviewed publications) and show a strong potential of acquiring independent grant funding. For applicants at the associate professor level, independent research experience as a principle investigator is required and the candidate must also have experience supervising graduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows. Teaching at Université de Montréal is in French; non-French speakers will be required to be sufficiently proficient to teach in French after a period of three years.
The successful candidate will occupy laboratory space within the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine on the main campus of Université de Montréal, in close proximity to other investigators with interests in molecular pharmacology of receptors, mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases and cancer, neuropharmacology and immunopharmacology. Researchers at the Faculty of Medicine have access to a number of excellent core research facilities located on campus.
