Titre : CELL POLARITY AND THE MECHANISMS OF ATRIAL FIBRILLATION

Résumé : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is usually framed in the context of abnormal automaticity, refractoriness, reentry and /or conduction, all with superimposed self sustaining effects on myocardium. We have used genetics and genetic models to study AF and will outline the role of a tension between the fundamental pathways of apicobasal polarity and planar cell polarity as a unifying complementary conceptual framework for understanding the arrhythmia.
